2nd day of Worlds ! Yay !
As a EU fan, I'm wondering:
I'm pretty excited for this day, and I'll be looking deeper into the following teams:
Seems like EDG does want to show up.
With iBoy's Kai'Sa having secured 5 kills at 13 minutes, it seemed really hard for EDG to lose this game.
The game then slowed down until the 22nd minute when EDG was able to caught Infinity's ADC, midlaner, and a few seconds later, their jungler to secure the baron and close the game 3 minutes later, after killing everyone except INF's toplaner.
Slow game, with First Blood taken by the First Blood King himself (aka G2 Jankos).
At the 28th minute, a fight started and Perkz wasn't able to survive, giving SUP the ability to kill the baron, the infernal drake and all G2's inhibitors, leading SUP to their first win of the competition.
With DW drafting for late game, Infinity had to be really proactive to counter the OPL lineup. Unfortunately, they weren't enough and the Dire Wolves teamfight was just too strong for them.
It's when the DW Azir-Xin Zhao decided to go for baron (risking the 50-50) and they got it, leading to a huge fight where Dire Wolves came up on top and closed the game.
I think this tweet says it all. Even when falling slightly behind in early game, SuperMassive came up huge when they had to take fights and closed the game really cleanly.
Surprise pick from EDG: Ray picked Darius to dominate his top lane against Ornn. With a dominant performance (excluding a weird move from iBoy ulting in 1v3 leading to a 1 for 1 fight, excluding Scout's death a few seconds before).
The clutch moment was the 33rd minute Baron attempt during which EDG Ray decided to backdoor and end the game while both teams were fighting at baron. It was a stroke of fate that it was at this exact moment that the bot inhibitor of DW decided to respawn. That didn't change the end of the game since EDG was able to clean up DW's team and Darius only had to ignore Trundle to end the game.
It would be lying to say that G2 won this one easily. Early game was really rough, but everything turner really well when Jankos smurfed and stole the baron, leading to a fight won by G2 ending up the game a few minutes after. The dream is still alive !
After the first day of play-ins, here are the standings for the QueueUp Squad:
As day 3 will go on for Play-ins, I'll take a closer look to G-Rex, since they had a great run the first day. I don't think KLG will be able to take a win, unfortunately.
Let's see if:
Here are tomorrow's predictions for the team:
